The ancestors of the present day East Asian people have resided in their respective home areas for more than two millennias. And it is also the same for the ancestors of the present- day Han Chinese people. The proto- Han Chinese people settled along the reaches of the Yellow River around 1700 B. C. and formed farming communities as well. The farmers of the Yellow River Civilization also practiced animal domestication and blacksmithing. The Yellow River Valley Civilization became the basis and the foundation for the formation of the Shang Dynasty, which was the first centralized dynasty of China.
